Update to Marriage Book 1

The data for Marriage Book 1 has been updated through the first 10 pages of the book (139 records). This database is available to members only. The data includes the record date, marriage date, name of groom, name of the bride, and the name of the officiant. The marriage book has some damage to it – where there are tears in the pages resulting in missing data. The missing data is represented by a “?” – it might be a single character or multiple characters. Every effort is made to read the entries as they are written with the note if there is a problem. This includes spelling mistakes.

Additionally, it should be noted that in many cases the name (especially the groom’s name) could be broken across 2 lines – as the clerk tended to “save paper” by writing to the very edge of the page. So, in a record, it might have at the end of one line “Wil=” and at the beginning of the next line “=liam”. This has been transcribed as William – without the = sign.

Another note, in a few brief lookups, the onsite index that the records center has does have a few mistakes – usually in page numbers. The database on our website is NOT using that onsite index, but the actual Marriage book in an effort to correct those few mistakes.
