President’s message

This year is the 45th Anniversary of the Butler County Chapter of OGS, and with that I am writing this president’s message with heavy heart. When I took over the society after the unexpected passing of our president Pam White, the board had big dreams of growing. We were able to put together a very strong board, and for a while we began to shine. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the board began dwindling, leaving the remaining board members to take on significantly more responsibility. As time has passed, the remaining board members are looking for a way out as well.

I have worked to try to merge our society with other local OGS chapters and Historical Societies with no luck. I pleaded for volunteers to take over several of the board positions, and, unfortunately, I have not had any luck with recruiting. Between now and the first of the year, I will be working to step down and relinquish the society back to OGS or to dissolve the society altogether.

Finally, if you have submitted an application for the First Families, I ask for your continued patience as I review the applications. I would also like to to hear from anyone that submitted an application that did not receive a First Families pin. We have several that we would like to distribute to our current members.
Sincerely,
James A. Dowler, President
